Salvation And The Church Recently, we completed a study of eight major religions in the United States. Although we didn't spend a lot of time on any particular group, it was obvious that, up to a point, many of them teach and believe the Bible as we do. However, we saw major differences as well. Every generation (ours included) must always keep in mind God's pattern for the church and not substitute man's ideas of salvation for God's original plan. God's Plan of Salvation: Hearing God's word (Romans 10:17; Acts 16:32) Believing what's taught (Mark 16:16; Hebrews 11:6). Repentance (Acts 2:38; Luke 13:3; Acts 17:30). Confession (Romans 10:9,10; Acts 8:37) Baptism (Acts 2:38; Mark. 16:16; Romans 6:3,4) Faithful Christian Living (1 Pet. 2:11,12 Revelation 2:10) The Church of Christ: The Bible it's only guide(Romans 1:16; 1 Thessalonians 2:13) Wears a Biblical Name (Romans 16:16) Established at the right place (Isaiah 2:2,3; Acts 2) Established at the right time (Joel 2:28-32; Acts 2) Established on the right person (Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:36). Saved are in it (Ephesians 5:23; Acts 2:47) Its members are enrolled in heaven (Hebrews 12:23) Membership in it is obtained by obedience to God's commands including baptism (Acts 2:41-47; I Corinthians 12:13). |
